COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM
A Comprehensive School Counseling Program strives to improve a range of student learning and behavioral outcomes. The program is preventative in design and developmental in nature (ASCA, 2018). Utilizing a SMART goal worksheet will provide the opportunity to effectively evaluate curriculum and interventions. SMART is an acronym for specific, measurable, attainable, results-oriented, and time. School Counselors utilize the Multitiered Systems of Support by addressing student needs and concerns with tier appropriate interventions.
CLASSROOM LESSON
Classroom lesson plans showcase vital information such as what will be delivered, to whom it will be delivered, how it will be delivered, and how student attainment of the competencies will be evaluated. An example is provided below.
SMALL GROUP
The small group template supports a positive effect on student achievement and behavior. It is used to provide focus and organization to the academic, attendance, and behavioral goals of small group counseling activities.
ANNUAL CALENDAR
The annual calendar is a calendar that includes school counseling program activities maintained by the counseling staff and can be shared with the students, parents, and staff.
PROGRAM EVALUATION
Using student and school site data to monitor student progress helps the school counselor determine what students need to achieve school success. A data project can be used to help school counselors organize and disaggregate data.
